Portrait Sessions for Independent Musicians
I’ve worked with musicians across the rock, soul, jazz, classical and roots genres for over 20 years. While I have always approached each shoot as an exploration of an artist’s unique identity, I wanted to offer a streamlined approach to make things easier (and hopefully more affordable) for independent musicians.
Process & Pricing:
I like to work collaboratively to get an understanding of what you want to accomplish while also guiding you towards what I think will serve you best within the world of music imagery and media.
A typical shoot involves:
An approximately 4-hour portrait session in my Brooklyn photo studio.
Variation of wardrobe and ‘looks’ as much as time allows, with changes in the background and lighting to explore the creative goals of the shoot.
Delivery via Dropbox gallery containing a selection of downloadable low-res proof files, usually about 50+ images.
8 finalized hi-res (lightly retouched) photos licensed for professional promotional use, including press photos, tour posters, programs, website and social media.
$1,275
Optional Grooming / Hair and Makeup:
Men: Our cosmetology-licensed groomer can provide camera-ready powder, coverup makeup and basic hairstyling. Though not always necessary, it can add significantly to the quality of the shoot, eliminating unevenness in skin-tone and minimizing blemishes.
$275
Women: Our stylist is capable of doing a fantastic job on both hair and makeup, raising the bar on your professional appearance and shaping the mood and message of the shoot. The stylist will be present for the entire shoot for touchups and adjustments.
$375
We can accommodate couples and small groups for a small additional fee based on needs.
The Studio:
My studio is a private 650 sq. ft. space on a quiet and quirky historic block in Vinegar Hill, Brooklyn (just north of DUMBO) It’s a music space as much as a photography space with instruments, an obsessively curated LP and 45 collection, restored vintage hi-fi (with a bluetooth receiver if you want to DJ) and most importantly, a Nespresso machine.
We’re equipped with top-quality Profoto lighting, custom painted backdrops and hi-res digital cameras. We also offer shooting on film using classic Hasselblad and Leica film cameras for an additional fee
There’s also the comforts of a couch, private bathroom with shower, clothing steamer and kitchenette.
